Abandoned Church

Location: Nebraska

This old church used to serve a lot to the community in Nebraska. It was shut down a few years ago because they were unable to make payments to keep it running. It was a Catholic church and my grandparents actually knew people who attended this one before it closed. My grandparents friends said only about one hundred people actually attended so you can see why I didn’t last. People who attended apparently liked the service just for some reason it didn’t last. The building itself was still in pretty good shape the outside was not looking to good though. The parking lot was growing weeds through the cracks and bushes growing up the building.

Old School

Location: Wyoming

I was at a basketball tournament in Wyoming when I found this one. We were driving to my game and as we got closer I saw this and made sure after the tournament I got a picture. This used to be an old elementary school a long time ago. From what I got from some residents around the area was the school shut down because of new ones opening and not enough teachers. On the other side by the playground was a large bell and I’m guessing it was used to let students know when school started and ended. I wish I was able to go in but the doors were chained up.

Secret Location

Location: Fort Collins

I don’t have too much to say about this one besides the fact that it’s a really cool looking abandoned house. I would guess back in the day it maybe kept a family warm? But if not I’m sure it could have been used to keep farm supplies and possibly chickens? The whole thing was rusty and the wood exterior was falling apart. This one was also really hard to find because it was just surrounded by trees but after some exploring through all the trees I was able to find it (the No Trespassing sign kind of gave it away).

Falling House

Location: Nebraska

The second time I went to Nebraska I was on a hunt to find abandoned houses after the farm with the peacocks and the one that got hit by a tornado. I was heading to church with my grandparents when I was this one. I had them pull over quickly so I could get a picture and we were off. The left side of the house was just covered in bushes, over grown grass, and two large trees. It looked like it was about to collapse because the white pole wasn’t very stable and the roof looked like it was starting to cave in. There was nothing around it but it was an interesting one for sure.

Link-N-Greens

Location: Fort Collins

This was just in the middle of Link-N-Greens golf course and I thought it was really cool. I think they now use it as a maintenance building with golf carts and the water system. I had to drive by it a few times to make sure it was an old house, it’s not technically abandoned but no one lives in it. I think I might just have to go golf there so I can check it out. It makes me curious if a family used to live in it? I like how it’s just in the middle of the coarse I would really like to go check it out from the inside. Let me know if you have any more information on this one!

Dream Land

Location: Nebraska
When I was at my grandparent’s house we had to go drive into the country to go to their farm to get the vegetables. We tuned into a long driveway and I looked up and saw two old barns and a modern looking house. I was so fascinated I asked my grandpa about them. The first one was built to hold the chickens because the family would sell eggs and the second one was built in 1901. I went and looked into the second one and it was so cool. Inside I saw an old carriage wagon type thing that horses used to pull and old bikes. There were two levels it was huge inside. When I walked out of the barn there were multiple peacocks running around it was perfect. We stayed for about twenty more minutes while my grandpa collected his vegetables, it was hard to leave I could have stayed there the rest of my life.

Nebraskan Barn

Location: Nebraska
My mom and I took a trip to Nebraska to see my grandparents and the rest of my family when we drove by this one. This particularly one was what actually made me start blogging about abandoned or destroyed houses. The reason this barn was destroyed was because of the tornado that had gone through the area a few weeks before. Nothing else was ruined besides the barn and some other areas on the land. Driving through Nebraska there were many abandoned houses that I wish I could have gotten a picture of but didn’t. When we were coming back we did see two guys picking up wood on the ground from the barn so that was a good sing that they were starting to repair it.
